Hi, each year I make a Mother’s Day card for a friend’s Mum, who is partially blind. My challenge is to make a card that she can appreciate and enjoy. To that end this card is brightly coloured, has plenty of texture and a bold sentiment. I hope she likes it.

To Make The Card
I had to play around with the size of the card blank so that everything else on the card worked and looked balanced. I trimmed down a 5″ x 7″ white blank card to 11cm x 16cm, which seems about right for the size of the flowers and sentiment. Cut a piece of bright pink card approximately 11cm x 13cm, and emboss with the floral embossing folder. Mark a point 4.5cm up from the bottom on the left side and 12.5cm up from the bottom on the right side and cut diagonally between the two points. Adhere this to the bottom of the card front. Cut a 1cm strip of gold mirror card, approximately 15.5cm long. Glue this next to the diagonal edge of the embossed panel and trim off the ends. Cut a strip of white card 2cm x 16cm and stick the peel off sentiment in the centre of it. Glue this over the join between the pink and gold card, leaving approximately 0.5cm of the gold card showing. Trim off the excess at either end.
Die cut a selection of flowers and leaves from the same bright pink card as the embossed panel, plus lighter pink, cream, gold mirror and green. Assemble all the flowers and arrange them in the white area of the card, so that they almost fill the space and one or two slightly overlap the gold and white strips. When you are happy with the flower arrangement glue them all in place. Add a few gold adhesive pearls among the flowers to finish off.
I used a peel off sentiment for this card mainly because I liked the size of it and that the recipient will be able to feel it. You can, of course, use a stamped or die cut sentiment instead. I am very pleased with this card, and I hope you like it too. Thank you for your interest, if you would like to make it yourself, all the products used are linked below.
