Hi, the Olive Martinis die set is another year round set, I used it to make this Christmas card and now I have used it again for a birthday card. I am sure this won’t be the last time I use it. I chose to make this one as an espresso martini as I know it’s something the recipient likes.

Hand made birthday card, with die cut espresso martini glass, inked background and hot foiled sentiment.

To Make The Card

Start with a white 5″ x 7″ blank card, trim it to 12.5cmx 17.5cm to make it easier to measure the layers, then add a layer of gold mirror card 12cm x 17cm. Cut a piece of white card 11.5cm x 16.5cm (I used hammered card to give a little bit of texture, you could leave it plain or emboss a design onto it.) Use a foam ink blending tool with turquoise ink to create an ombre effect by fading the colour out towards the top of the piece of card. Please Note: if you are going to emboss this panel, make sure to ink it first. Glue the inked panel over the gold mirror layer on the card front.

Die cut the martini glass from gold mirror card, and the other elements from red, light turquoise, white and gold mirror. Cut a piece of dark brown card to be the martini and cream card for the creamy topping. Die cut the coffee beans from dark brown card and add some Glossy Accents to make them look shiny.

Glue the martini glass to the card front, slightly towards the right hand side. Assemble the flower stems, straw, bow and gift. Trim the straw to the required length, cut the bottom end at an angle so that it can rest against the top edge of the martini drink. Glue all the elements in place with the gift to the right of the glass and level with the glass base.

Use gold heat activated foil on turquoise card to make the sentiment, then die cut it with the co-ordinating die. Glue the sentiment in position to the left of the glass stem.

I am very pleased with this card, I think the colours work really well together, and the glass looks very elegant in gold mirror card. I hope you like it too, thank you for visiting. If you want to make it yourself, all the products used are linked below.
