Hi, I have never made a black Christmas card before but I think combined with the gold and the splash of red and green, it works very well. It also gave me chance to use my favourite poinsettia and holly die set again 🙂 Unfortunately mirror card is very hard to photograph and this picture doesn’t really show the shine.

To Make The Card

Start with a white 5″ x 7″ blank card, trim it slightly to 12.5cm x 17.5cm and add a layer of gold mirror card. Cut a piece of black card to 11.5cm x 16.5cm and emboss with a pine branches embossing folder. Adhere the embossed panel to the card front. Cut a strip of gold mirror card 11.5cm x 5cm and a piece of black card 11.5cm x 4.5cm. Glue the black strip centrally over the gold strip and adhere the whole thing to the card front approximately a third of the way down.

Die cut a 6.5cm circle with small stripes edging from gold mirror card and top it with a black 5.5cm circle. Glue the circles together and then glue them to the horizontal strip, towards the left side. Die cut a solid poinsettia from bright red card and two solid holly sprigs from bright green card. Die cut the open poinsettia and holly sprigs from gold mirror card. Glue the gold open parts to the solid parts, slightly offset and not completely glued down. Glue the poinsettia to the centre of the black circle and the holly sprigs above and below the flower with the ends tucked under the flower petals.

Hot foil the sentiment in gold on black card and cut it out with the co-ordinating die. Adhere the sentiment next to the poinsettia overlapping the circle. Use glue at the circle end and a thin foam pad at the other end to keep it level. The black background might not appeal to everyone but I think it looks very elegant. I hope you like it, thank you for visiting. All the products used are linked below.
