Hi, here’s a Christmas card with a bit of everything, stencilling, embossing and die cutting, and although it looks like there is a lot to do, it is actually very easy to make.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut poinsettias and holly on an embossed background with stencilled panel.

To Make The Card

Start with a white 5″ x 7″ blank card and trim it slightly to 12.5cm x 17.5cm, this makes it easier to cut the other layers. Add a layer of gold mirror card, 12cm x 17cm. Cut a piece of red card 11.5cm x 16.5cm and emboss with a pine branch embossing folder. Glue this on top of the gold layer. Cut a strip of white card 6cm x 16.5cm, lay the stencil over it and secure in position with stencil tape. Use a foam ink blending too and red ink to stencil the design. Once you are happy with it remove the stencil and lightly ink around the edges of the panel with the same red ink. Adhere this to the card front approximately 1.5cm in from the left edge of the red layer.

Die cut a 7.5cm circle with a small stripes edge from red card, glue it about a third of the way down the card so that it overlaps the the stencilled panel and the embossed background. Now cut two poinsettia flowers, one slightly larger than the other. Use a pencil to roll the flower petals and curve them slightly. Glue the flower layers on top of one another with the petals offset and add a gold self adhesive pearl to the centre of each one. Cut a selection of holly leaves, pine branches and berry stems from green and gold card. Arrange the foliage, berry stems and flowers around the left edge of the die cut circle, with the ends of the leaf stems tucked under the flowers. Use thin foam pads to adhere the flowers so that there is a slight gap to slide the leaf stems under. Finally die cut the sentiment strip from gold mirror card and adhere so that one end is just under the flower petals and the other is at the edge of the red layer of card.

That’s all there is to it! Of course you could use a different colour scheme, foliage and sentiment to suit your preferences, but I do like the classic Christmas colours. Thanks for visiting, I hope you like it too. All the products used are linked below.
