Hi, I have made a few white on white Christmas cards in the past and was going to do another today, but decided instead to go for this understated cream and gold design instead. I had thought of making the holly leaves in the background panel gold as well but then decided against that, although I still think it would look good.
To Make The Card
I wanted the card to be only cream and gold so cut some ivory card to make a base 11cm x 15.25cm folded size. Die cut the holly background panel from the same ivory card. Pop out the background pieces, but try to keep all the leaves in place.Glue the panel to the card front, make sure all the loose pieces are glued so they don’t fall out later.
Cut the sentiment three times, twice from ivory card and once from gold mirror card. Glue all three together with the gold on top, this will give it extra dimension. Die cut a stitched rectangle 7.5cm x 3.5cm and adhere the sentiment to it. Use adhesive foam pads to attach the sentiment panel about a third of the way down the card. Finish off by adding gold, adhesive pearls to each of the holly berries.
As I mentioned at the start you could cut the background a second time from gold card and swap the holly leaves around to give a two colour background. This would also produce a card with the colours the other way round if you put the cream holly leaves in the spaces on the gold framework. I also think the design would work well in lots of other colours too. I am happy with the card as it is, but with hindsight would probably have cut the background twice and layered it up to give more definition….next time 🙂 I hope you like it, thank you for visiting.
