Hi, we recently received stock of this Tim Holtz die set with the Colorize bunny and chick and I couldn’t resist using them on an Easter card. I think the card has turned out very well although it does look a bit like something you would use for a caption competition!

Hand made Easter card with die cut eggs, bunny, chick, grass and flowers on an ink wash background.

To Make The Card

Cut a piece of watercolour card stock 12cm square. Smoosh blue ink on a water resistant surface, spritz with water and mix with a paint brush. Smoosh another patch of the same ink next to it. Brush the diluted ink horizontally across the watercolour card, sometimes just with diluted ink and other times mixing in some undiluted ink. This will give different depths of colour. More or less cover the piece of card, but it doesn’t matter if some small patches of white remain. Dry with a heat gun and lightly ink around the edges with brown ink. Take a 5″ x 5″ white blank card, ink the edges with brown ink and adhere the watercolour panel to the front.

Die cut and assemble the bunny, chick, flowers and bunting, lightly inking the edges of each piece as you go. Die cut the largest egg from blue card and another two sizes smaller from pink card. Use the zigzag die to cut across the smaller egg, to make it look as though it has cracked open. Ink the edges of the eggs with brown ink. Smoosh and dilute some brown ink and splatter the eggs to give them speckles. Cut three strips of grass from green card and ink the edges with brown.

Lay the bunting on the top right corner of the card and position the sentiment stamp. Stamp it with black ink. Glue the strips of grass to the bottom of the card. Start with the bottom one, only glue the straight edge so that you can tuck the next strip under it. Repeat with the second and third strips. Glue the large egg in place so that it is tucked between the second and third grass strips, then adhere the bunny to the egg so that he is sitting in front of it. Glue the two pieces of pink egg to the right side and the chick standing next to them. To finish add the flowers spread out over the grass and glue the bunting in place around the sentiment.

I chose mainly pastel colours for this design, but you could use much stronger colours if you prefer. Thank you for visiting, I hope you like the card. All the product details are linked below.
