Hi, I saw this idea demonstrated on a Pinterest video by Bruno Bertucci, it was a bit long winded but I liked the idea and decided to try it out for myself. I am currently making all the birthday cards that I need up to the end of the year, so that once they are completed I can focus on Christmas card making. This card is one of them and is made in the colours of the favourite football team of the intended recipient.
To Make The Card
Start with a white A6 blank card and layer it with dark blue card. Cut a second piece of dark blue card approximately the same size and set it aside for a few minutes. Cut the strips of coloured card, cut each one at a slight angle, so that it is wider at one end than the other. Make sure the strips are longer than the height of the second piece of blue card. Glue the strips to the second piece of dark blue card, leave a narrow gap between each strip and let them extend beyond the edges of the piece of card. When all the strips have been glued in place, trim the whole piece to 13.5cm x 9.5cm and adhere it to the card front.
Cut a strip of dark blue card 9.5cm x 1cm, stamp the sentiment on it with watermark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Glue the sentiment strip in the bottom right hand corner of the card, cup to the edge of the blue layer.
There it is! The key to the technique is to adhere the strips to the same colour card as the background layer. Obviously the overall design is very versatile as you can use any colours and add any sentiment. I hope you like it, thanks for visiting, all the products used are linked below.
