Hi, I thought it would be fun to replace the traditional shades of red and green for poinsettias and holly with neon pink and green polishes. I think the end result is stunning, it certainly makes for an eye catching card.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut poinsettia and holly coloured with neon polishes.

To Make The Card

Cut 2 pieces of white card approximately 10cm x 10cm use green neon polish quite lightly all over one piece and pink neon polish more heavily on the other. Die cut the solid holly leaves from the green piece and the solid poinsettia and three berry clusters from the pink. Cut the holly, poinsettia and berry outlines from gold mirror card. Glue the gold outlines onto the holly leaves and berries. Glue the poinsettia outline to the centre of the solid flower with the petals unglued and offset. This makes the flower look fuller.

Cut a piece of watercolour card stock 9.75cm x 14cm. Smoosh some of the pink neon polish onto a craft mat or acrylic block, and spritz with water to dilute it. Use a paintbrush to paint the polish on to the central area of the watercolour card. Add more water to the polish to dilute it further and paint again taking it further out towards the edges of the card to create a slight ombre effect. Layer this background piece onto green card and then onto a white A6 blank card.

Use a dark green ink to stamp a circle of pine branches over the pink background. Glue the holly leaves over the pine branches in a rough circle, add the poinsettia to the middle and the berry clusters between holly leaves. I thought merry and bright would be an appropriate sentiment for this card. It is trimmed from a Christmas Wordies Sentiment Sheet and adhered in the bottom right hand corner with small adhesive foam pads.

I hope you like the card, I have photographed it several times and it still doesn’t really show the lovely vibrant colours. Thank you for your interest, all the products used are linked below.
