Hi, I just couldn’t resist this cute, chunky robin with his scarf and Santa hat. Since I knew I would be using red to colour his breast and hat, I decided to go with a red and green colour scheme so the tartan background was an easy choice. I used the new Craft Consortium Essential Tartan paper pad, which is full of lovely tartan designs in lots of different colours.
To make The Card
Start with a 6″ x 6″ white card blank, and trim it down to 14.5cm square. I usually do this as it makes the measurements for matting and layering much easier. Cut a piece of green card 14cm square and roughen the edges, then adhere it to the card front. Cut a piece of red and green tartan paper 13.5cm square, use a white gel pen to draw faux stitch marks around the edge and adhere to the card front. Cut another piece of green card 14cm x 5cm, roughen the edges and adhere across the centre of the card. Cut a piece of red card 13.5cm x 5cm, roughen the edges and add faux stitch marks. Adhere the red panel on top of the green.
Stamp the robin in Memento black ink on white card and trim it to 8cm x 8.5cm. Colour the robin using alcohol markers, matching the green and red to the card colours already used. Fill in the trim and pompom on the hat and the area of ground and snowballs with a glue pen, then sprinkle with fine glitter.
It’s hard to show the glitter in the photo but I think you can see it in this close up. Roughen the edges of the card and mount onto green card again with roughened edges. Adhere the robin panel over the red strip, positioned to the left side of the card. Stamp the sentiment in black on white card, roughen the edges, mount on green card and roughen the edges again. Adhere the sentiment strip below the robin panel to the right side of the card. To finish off add a row of adhesive crystals to both the robin panel and the red strip.
I am very happy with this card, it has a lovely festive feel and the robin is very cute. Thank you for calling in, I hope you like it too. All the products used are linked below.
