Hi here’s a fun card with a smiling sea turtle, great for a birthday but could also be used for other occasions. The vertical panel is stencilled with glitter paste that has been coloured with ink. This adds a bit of everything, colour, texture and dimension.
To Make The Card
It’s best to start with the stencilled panel so that it can be left to dry whilst you are making the other parts. Trim a piece of white card to approx. 6cm x 17.5cm. This is bigger than the finished panel but allows the edges to be cut off, as the texture paste sometimes looks a bit ragged where the edge of the stencil was. Smoosh some of each of the three colours of distress oxide ink onto a craft mat, then use a palette knife to mix a small amount of glitter paste into each colour. Use stencil tape to hold the stencil in place over the card panel. Spread the coloured glitter paste over the stencil, alternating the colours. It doesn’t matter if the colours get a little mixed, in fact it looks quite nice. Remove the stencil and clean it straight away in warm soapy water before the glitter paste has time to set. Put the panel on one side to dry.
Stamp the sea turtle and the fish in black ink on white card. Colour them with marker pens or pencils, adding some highlights with a white pen. Fussy cut the turtle and three of the fish. When the stencilled panel is dry, trim it down to 5.5cm x 17cm and mount on a piece of green card so that it forms a margin down one side. Take a 5″ x 7″ white blank card and trim it down a little to 12.5cm x 17cm. Adhere the stencilled panel to the card front leaving a gap the same size as the green card margin from the left side of the card. Use adhesive foam pads to adhere the turtle and fish to the panel.
Stamp the sentiment in black ink in the bottom right hand corner of the card, directly on to the card front. Add adhesive crystals above the head of the turtle to look like bubbles. A lovely card for both adults and children, I hope you like it. Thank you for your visit, all the products used are linked below.
