Hi everyone, as I have been making Fathers Day cards I thought I would make a fun football shaker card. I have made it a birthday card but this could easily be a Fathers Day card too.
Start with a 12.5cm square white blank card and trim it down to 12cm sq (this makes it easier to make the strips fit). Cut 12 strips of card 1cm wide by 12cm long, in whichever colours represent the team of the recipient. Glue the strips to the card blank.
Die cut a footballer from white card and colour it with marker pens or pencils to match the striped background. Print out the football sheet (linked below) and fussy cut 9 or 10 of the smallest balls (I did think afterwards they might have looked even better with a coating of glossy accents), anyway…
Cut a 9cm square of green card, then die cut a 7.5cm circle from the centre. Stick the green circle to the centre of the card, glue the footballer in place, lay the footballs on the circle and add some sequins that match the card’s colour scheme. Apply glue to the rim of the shaker dome and position it over the green circle, weight it down and leave it until the glue is completely dry.
In the meantime, die cut a strip of grass from the same green card, stamp Happy Birthday in clear ink across the bottom, then heat emboss with opaque white.
Once the shaker dome glue is dry adhere the square of green card over it using 1mm foam pads to raise it up a little and glue the grass strip across the bottom of the green card.
It doesn’t matter that the footballs are plain on the back as the shaker dome is only 4mm deep so there isn’t enough room for them to turn over. If you want to use a bigger, deeper shaker dome, you can stick the footballs back to back to they are printed on both sides.
This is a great card for a football fan, for whatever occasion, with the colour scheme adapted to different football teams. Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it. All supplies are linked below.
