Hi Everyone, I hope you are well, here’s another slightly different stencil effect. I used texture paste and the lace stencil again but this time I painted it with Distress Ink to achieve a completely different look to the earlier wedding card. A simple die cut sentiment is all it needed to finish it off.
Start with a piece of white card approximately 9 x 15cm, use stencil tape to fix it to a board or other firm, flat surface. Again with stencil tape stick the stencil down over the card and spread texture paste all over it, using the edge of your spatula to remove any excess paste and smooth it down a bit. Carefully lift off the stencil and leave the paste to dry (typically about 15 – 20 minutes).
Spread a little ink from each colour on to your craft sheet and spritz with some water, use a small paintbrush to mix the and water and paint it over the stencilled area. I used Peeled Paint, Broken China and Scattered Straw. Once the ink is completely dry sand it all over with a fine sanding block to rub away some of the ink from the raised areas, creating a worn look. Spritz it all over with Glimmer Mist to add some subtle sparkle.
Once the finished panel is dry, trim the edges and mount it on black card, then on a white card blank. Die cut the greeting from the same black card and use a Quickie glue pen to adhere the sentiment to the stencilled panel.
I love these new die cut sentiments and the way the black card really makes the colours pop. I’m very happy with this card and the easy technique which produces such a lovely look. You could use any colour scheme and greeting to make this card work for all sorts of occasions. Thank you for reading, please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
