Hi Everyone, found another new technique for this card but still using the fab Distress Oxide ink pads, the background color has been applied using the same method as described here, I won’t repeat all that here as I want to explain how the stenciling was done and don’t want to bore you with a massive post. The distress oxide ink colors for the background are Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber.

Having created the colored background I sprayed water all over a flourish stencil, then placed it wet side down on the inked background, I used a paper towel to quickly dry up excess water that was pushed out from under the stencil, then lifted the stencil off and used a paper towel to immediately dry off the stenciled area. The water from the stencil starts to lift the ink color from the background drying it prevents it from going too far and blurring the outline of the stenciled design.

Once the background piece was completely dry I trimmed it to size and  inked around the edges with Wilted Violet using a foam ink blending tool. I stamped the Agapanthus flowers in watermark ink and heat embossed with gold. I mounted the completed panel on gold card and then onto an A6 cream card blank using adhesive foam pads to lift it.

The greeting is also stamped with watermark ink and heat embossed with gold onto a piece of colored background that I had trimmed off the main panel. This in turn is mounted on gold card and attached with foam pads at one end and double sided tape at the other.

I really like the subtle stenciled image in the background and will be experimenting further with stencils and distress oxides. Hope you like it, would love to hear your thoughts.
