This is something a little bit different for me, I had the idea for the card and the recipient as soon as we got this great skull clear stamp in stock. The card was made for my daughters 18th birthday and I am happy to say she loved it.
I wanted something that was both grungy and a little bit glamorous so I chose this black and gold colour scheme.
I started by making a 15 x 11.5cm card base out of black card and layered this with gold card that I had inked the edges of with black ink. I used the largest of the Spellbinders Majestic Labels 8 die cutting set and die cut a piece from black card, I inked the edges of this with a gold ink pad. The skull is stamped with Indigo Blu Flitterglu and gilded with gold flake. This panel was then layered over the gold.
To add some decoration and dimension to the card I die cut two flourishes from black card and roughly inked them with gold and stuck them to the top corner. I used the same gold ink pad to ink four brown mulberry paper roses, I removed the leaves and cut off the stems and glued three of them in a cluster over the flourishes. The fourth was glued to the birthday greeting which was hand cut from black card, the edges inked with gold and the peel off message put in place.
I used a gold pen to write inside the card but you could also add a white insert to write your message on.
