My Mum is also a card maker so it’s an annual challenge to make a Mother’s Day card that will impress her.
I started out making the die cut flowers for a different project with a different colour scheme, from yellow paper, but when I started inking the edges with a dark red (merlot) ink pad they turned a beautiful dark orange, no good for the original project but perfect for this one.
I started with a cream square blank card and inked the edges with merlot, the orange basket weave paper is one of our free downloads and is cut to half a centimetre smaller than the card. I embossed a strip of cream card with the lattice embossing folder, used a gold inkpad to colour the raised parts of the lattice design, inked the edges with merlot and adhered it across the centre of the card. I die cut an ornate shape from orange card, two flourishes from gold card, and four leaves from green card, the edges of the ornate shape are also inked with merlot, these were all arranged and adhered as in the picture.
