My Mum is also a card maker so it’s an annual challenge to make a Mother’s Day card that will impress her.
I started out making the die cut flowers for a different project with a different colour scheme, from yellow paper, but when I started inking the edges with a dark red (merlot) ink pad they turned a beautiful dark orange, no good for the original project but perfect for this one.
I started with a cream square blank card and inked the edges with merlot, the orange basket weave paper is one of our free downloads and is cut to half a centimetre smaller than the card. I embossed a strip of cream card with the lattice embossing folder, used a gold inkpad to colour the raised parts of the lattice design, inked the edges with merlot and adhered it across the centre of the card. I die cut an ornate shape from orange card, two flourishes from gold card,  and four leaves from green card, the edges of the ornate shape are also inked with merlot, these were all arranged and adhered as in the picture.

I made the flowers by cutting the petals from yellow paper and inking them with merlot ink, the largest flower is made with 5 petals cut with the flower die from the Marianne square frame and flower set. The petals are cut almost to the centre then rolled over each other and glued, Some are rolled tighter than others with the tighter ones forming the inside of the flower. The outer petals are all curled outwards by rolling them over a cocktail stick. The smaller flowers are made using the Marianne flower die listed below. For these I cut right to the centre between two of the petals and again rolled them over each other to make tighter ones for the centre and looser ones for the outsides, again curling the outer petals over. Each of the full flowers has a self adhesive pearl for it’s centre. The buds are made with a single petal rolled over itself and glued.
Finally the greeting was stamped with Flitterglu and gilded using gold flake.
Mum has received the card and is delighted with it!
